About Us

A project of the Texas Public Policy Foundation, TexasBudgetSource.com is your one-stop resource for state and local spending and financial transparency in Texas.

TexasBudgetSource.com offers unique analysis and reporting, while also providing links to state agencies, government websites, and budget information throughout the state.

Fiscal analysis is provided by the Center for Fiscal Policy at the Texas Public Policy Foundation, led by its director Talmadge Heflin. He previously served as chairman of the Texas House Committee on Appropriations and helped the state write a balanced budget – without raising taxes – when the state faced a $10 billion shortfall in 2003. Fiscal policy analyst James Quintero works with Talmadge to crunch the numbers and share them with the public.

TexasBudgetSource.com’s reporting is provided by Curt Olson, who uncovers and shares information on where, why, and how taxpayer money is being spent.

Anyone with news tips, investigation ideas, or suggestions for TexasBudgetSource.com can e-mail Curt at colson@texasbudgetsource.com.
